Weekly Recap: iPhone Scratch removal, Google Chrome and Acer, The Social Network Review

Each week I host a Blog Carnival recapping cool stuff that I may have missed blogging about during the week.

Here are a few of my favorites:

How to get rid of iPhone Scratches is a great article on the best ways to get rid of the pesky scratches that we all get on our iPhones (and iPod Touch). The author does a great job of letting us know the best kits to buy to get rid of the pesky surface scratches that we get due to keys, coins and etc. This an especially important post for all the new Verizon iPhone users!!!

A Look Ahead: Google Chrome, Acer Aspire and Asus

The author reviews each of the smaller laptops on the market currently. the Google Chrome OS CR-48 laptop, the Acer Aspire laptop and the Asus. The author also mentions upcoming trends for the smaller laptops in the general market. It seems as if the littler laptops are here to stay!

The Social Network (Limerick Review)

This was hilarious! I liked it so much that I now follow her on Twitter!

The Social Network (Limerick Review)
By Madeleine Begun Kane

Social Network’s a wonderful flick —
Snappy dialogue — listen, it’s quick.
Depositions are used
Rather well — I’m amused.
As for Oscars this year, it’s my pick.

Make sure to check out her witty blog! What I love about her blog is that I can read a review of a movie, song parodies and satires and feel like I got all the needed information and could laugh in the process!

So that’s my weekly recap, check back next Monday for more great stuff!

Cool stuff from Foursquare!

For those of us who have smart phones, there is a great application for download called Foursquare. This fun app lets you check into all the places that you will go! It will also update Facebook, so you don’t have to add anything to it. This was a really fun app during our April road trip. Many of my friends felt it was like they were on the trip with us and had lots of fun seeing where we were going.

But here’s the real kicker. The other day, while stopping into the PCC Market on the way to the ferry docks, I checked into PCC with Foursquare only to discover a really cool special! On the right hand side of the phone screen was a box marked special, after clicking it, I saw that I could receive a free Seattle’s Mighty-O Donut for every third check in at PCC Natural Market! After a few Edmonds/Kingston ferry runs, I finally got to my 3rd check in and as you can see below, my daughter, Sophia loved the donut!

This was a great feature, which totally made my day! While I haven’t found a way to find more of these great specials, it’s cool knowing that they exist and now I can’t wait to find the next one! Who knows what it may bring?

Twitter = Laughter, who knew?

I just finished one of the funnier books I have ever read! The World According to Twitter by David Pogue. David, a New York Times Personal Tech Columnist tapped into the minds of his 500,000 million Twitter followers for answers to some great and funny questions. Such as, change 1 letter of a familiar title: Star Wart: THe real reason Vader wears a mask.

This book challenges the way that we look at social media and each other. Twitter, like other social media outlets, can receive a bad rap due to people who feel the need to post what they had for lunch. However, this project shows that we can connect and have fun with social media outlets and even learn a thing or two about each other, all in 140 characters or less.

I haven’t had a lot to laugh about lately, so when I poured into this book, I laughed harder than I can remember! I can’t wait to share this great book with friends and family who also need a pick me up.
