IJustine aka thanks for the idiocy

It was recently brought to my attention (by the awesome Lawrence on G+) that the not-so-lovely, but famous IJustine is now posting gaming reviews. If you can call them that. I watched them and they were horrible. It’s just her playing a game and bs’ing in the process. Hey, Justine, that is not a review. You being all cutesy and playing a game, does not a gamer make!

To all of us legitimate girl gamers, we actually review the games that we play. We don’t just sit there and look cute. Oh, and complaining that you haven’t killed anyone in game is not a review.

So for us legitmate gamers, let’s not take props from this talent-less bimbo. Let’s actually reveiw the games that we play. Tell the people why you like them or don’t like them for that matter. Be honest, but don’t just do it for the paycheck! Some of us actually work hard to be legitimate without the fake boobs.

So thanks iJustine for being you, fake and money hungry!

My Geek Voice featured on the Wandering Havoc game store site!

Wandering Havoc

I recently had the pleasure of writing a blog post for my local (and awesome) game store, Wandering Havoc. I had written a post earlier about finding the perfect game store and I am blessed to call Wandering Havoc my home.

I wrote the post about gaming with your kids, which I think is important. What I focused most on this post was how to game with your kids and not pull your hair out. Making sure that you know your kids limits and also that your kids understand the game store rules is very important, especially if you want to be asked back!

We are lucky that our fellow gamers at Wandering Havoc embrace us as well as our kids. In fact, when I don’t have the kids with me, everyone asks where they are! I love that feeling. I hope that you enjoy this post and get to know me as a gamer parent more and get to know the Wandering Havoc crew as well.

If you want to know more about some of the games from a

(new person) perspective, make sure to check out this link. Chris is hilarious as he explores the ins and outs of a lot of the popular table top games.

A great new read!

I just picked up the book “How Computer Games Help Children Learn” by David William Shafer. I am already to Chapter Three and really enjoying it! As a mom and a gamer I feel that so far this book justifies allowing my daughter to play games (age appropriate, of course!). I’ll let you know more after I have finished the book, but so far so good!

Major Motivation

Normally, I would talking about video games, movies and etc. But I need to take a moment to talk about something that is far more important. Your health.

After watching just the first half hour of the new season of the Biggest Loser, I have already purged 95% of the candy and crap food in our house. Watching Jerry from the white team pass out after doing his own workout that he came up with was scary. I am five months pregnant and am working out (mild workouts) when I can, but I had some weight to lose before that, about 20 pounds. I lost 12 pounds due to extreme morning sickness and am at an okay weight right now, even for being pregnant.

But let’s face it, gamers are not usually known for their physicques. We’ve all heard the stereotypes, that we are lazy and we just sit on the couch drinking energy drinks and gaming all night. Whether these stereotypes are true for you or not, make sure that you are getting some exercise and eating healthy. If not for yourself, then for the thought that if you don’t take care of yourself, what bitchin games are you going to miss out on when you are dead.

Sorry to sound doomsdayish or morbid, but it is January and people are thinking more about their health. I would just hate to see another person from our gaming community be lost.
