The letter of the day is “C” and the number of the day is “6″! C is for comics, that’s good enough for me! 6 is the number of Sesame Street “heroes” featured on this awesome shirt!

The Sesame Six T-Shirt

While it’s not an actual comic book yet, I think it might have some potential! Oscar the Grouch looks pretty bad and Elmo as the Human Torch is pretty awesome too! It looks like Big Bird steps in as Mr. Fantastic and Cookie Monster is The Thing. I can’t wait to sport my shirt around town! AJ Paglia, the artist of this great t-shirt, had an idea to mash-up Sesame Street and the Fantastic Four.

While I was in the Christian book store yesterday, I ran across this amazing version of the bible: The Action Bible! The artwork was amazing and the story was fun to read! My six year old loves it and she finally understands the bible stories now! My 36 year old hubby wants a copy too!  I feel that this bible is amazing in so many different ways: first for the visual person, it’s awesome to have pictures, secondly, it’s great for someone who is learning to read and lastly, what a great way to reach us comic book nerds!

I am currently working on scheduling a podcast with Sergio Cariello, the illustrator of The Action Bible. Sergio has worked for both DC Comics and Marvel as an illustrator (Batman and Daredevil to name a couple). I am really excited to talk to a fellow comic nerd and Christian! Well, today (Feb 3rd) is Elmo’s Birthday! So if you have little ones, make sure to head on over to celebrate! There are great games and coloring pages for the celebration! We are going to celebrate by watching Elmo today!

Each week, I also plan on focusing on one game and reviewing it, if you like it and want to learn more, or purchase it, please contact me. The games are fun, educational and most can be played within 30 minutes. These games are great for family nights, homeschool learning or just plain fun! The thing that I like as well is that they are well constructed games and are fair market price! As someone who loves games to begin with I can’t wait for an excuse to come over and play games with you all.

My goals with this business is to eventually own a game store where people can come and have game nights in a fun and safe environment for families and kids and this step will help me with that goal, so please I ask that you help me reach my goals but booking a party or passing this on to someone who you think would like to have a SimplyFun party!

While I am a HUGE fan of Harry Potter, I would highly suggest leaving the kids at home for this one until you , the parent, preview it first. From what we know from the boo, this is the darkest themed book of the series. While my children loved the first three movies, it started getting a bit to dark and scary for them, in fact the last installment of the series, Harry Potter and Half Blood Prince gave our daughter nightmares even after watching it in the daylight with both myself and her dad.

So for this movie, my wonderful hubby and I are seeing it first by ourselves. I think this is the best plan for parents, even if their younger kids have read the books and know what is coming next in the plot line. There is something scarier about seeing it acted out then reading it on a page.

I am totally looking forward to seeing it and will let you (parents) know things to watch for in regards to your kiddos on Saturday.

This year at PAX, one of the bigger game roll outs was Epic Mickey! This game is limited to the Wii console and has it’s own special edition Wii Nunchuck in the shape of a paint brush! While the game rating is still pending, I would have to venture a guess that it will be an E8 Rating (everyone above the age of 8), only because there are a couple of scary monsters in it. However, the beauty of this game is that you can “erase” and “repaint” the bad guys. The graphics were awesome, especially considering that the Wii is not an HD upgrader, so the graphics tend not to look as good as the Xbox or the PS3 (which are upgraders). The graphics were really pretty and immersive.

The game was really fun to play as well! Sophia (6) really enjoyed it and had a lot of fun with it.(As you can see!) The game included tutorials and hints along the way, via a cute character, which was helpful to Sophia and other players. The release date for this game was just announced as November 30th, 2010, just in time for Christmas! After the buzz at PAX, I would HIGHLY suggest preordering it because it will go fast, I have a feeling that it will be Tickle Me Elmo proportions!

Epic Mickey is fun to play, awesome to look at and enjoyable for the whole family. I think this game is as epic as it’s title! Enjoy!

Super Hero Squad Online Booth at PAX Prime

After attending PAX Prime West this year, we stumbled across a great booth for the new Super Hero Squad Online, by Gazillion Entertainment. My kids and I watch the Super Hero Squad Show on Cartoon Network and love it. (No surprise there!) So I was really excited to see that they had an online MMO (Mass Multiplayer Online) releasing soon. I got to try it out and I have to say, I enjoyed it! They also created a card game, which Sophia (my 6 year old) really loved, the only drawback is that the cards were created for the PAX event. Let’s hope it catches on and they create a full game out of it.

At PAX, I had a chance to meet Keith, Gazillion Entertainment’s PR Manager. We talked about how games can help kids with reading, problem solving and language skills, not to mention hand to eye corrdination. We had both stated that there really aren’t too many games out there for kids, so I was really excited to see this game! The reason I like this game is that Keith stated that pretty much everyone at Gazillion are parents, so it is created by parents! So the violence level is low, there is no foul language or suggestive things that kids shouldn’t be seeing in the first place.There is also a great info page for parents to learn more about security issues and etc. My favorite of the parents info is this: Parental Controls: We believe that parents are the best judge of what’s right for their kids and our game allow parents to filter aspects of their child’s play, keeping you in control. As I gaming mom, I firmly believe in this!

The interactivity of the MMO is great, it’s easy of use is also great and I am really excited for this MMO to release! Gazillion states that the release date is set for Q1, 2011. So anytime between January to March of 2011 we’ll be joining and enjoying! Check out the awesome trailer!!!

As my 15 year high school reunion draws close (we all skipped the 10 year one), I notice that I have been reflecting on my life a lot more now. While I am not the same person that I used to be, even though I look the same, I am proud to say that I am stronger and tougher (mentally) than I used to be. But there in the back of my mind (and I’m sure every mom’s mind), you wonder what your life would be like if you chose a different path. I wonder sometimes what my life would be like without kids. Would I be working the corporate ladder? Maybe staying with the art and comic book industry and touring around like my friend Jim. I think it is perfectly normal to wonder the “what if’s” of life, as long as we don’t dwell on them. For me all it takes is a goofy song or joke from Sophia or a baby giggle from Sarah to make me realize how truly blessed I am.
