Epic Fail: Coffeemate’s free product coupon

So Coffeemate was hosting a coupon for a free bottle of Coffeemate creamer. They did everything right, created a Facebook Event, linked out to all the coupon blogger sites and etc. They were so good in their adverstising that they forgot one important thing…

Make sure you have enough bandwidth and etc to actually support the MASSIVE amount of traffic your website will get! So, the thousands of people who want the coupon can’t get it because

Server is too busy

which is what comes up at the page itself.

Companies get so wrapped up in the selling that they fail realize the implications of beefing up their server. Now people are pissed because they can’t get their coupon and they are hating Coffeemate because of it. I think that International Delights owes Coffeemate a big thanks for sending people their way! While it’s not for a free bottle of creamer, here is a coupon for International Delights!

If only companies would realize the effect of internet marketing and heed the warnings of us nerds!

Twitter = Laughter, who knew?

I just finished one of the funnier books I have ever read! The World According to Twitter by David Pogue. David, a New York Times Personal Tech Columnist tapped into the minds of his 500,000 million Twitter followers for answers to some great and funny questions. Such as, change 1 letter of a familiar title: Star Wart: THe real reason Vader wears a mask.

This book challenges the way that we look at social media and each other. Twitter, like other social media outlets, can receive a bad rap due to people who feel the need to post what they had for lunch. However, this project shows that we can connect and have fun with social media outlets and even learn a thing or two about each other, all in 140 characters or less.

I haven’t had a lot to laugh about lately, so when I poured into this book, I laughed harder than I can remember! I can’t wait to share this great book with friends and family who also need a pick me up.
