This was an awesome Steampunk design showcased on Toxel.com. While I am not a big steampunk person, this design is awesome and I find myself wanting one!

Today is the unveiling of the iPad 2. So here’s a great video from PCMag to explain all about the new iPad!
So here’s the weekly recap!
I have a great post about some of the cute new Kindle Covers! Personally, I like the Diane Von Furstenburg cover the best!
Another great post from Mad Kane on wishing for a low tech life! (There are days when I feel like this too!)
An interesting post on ARM processors and how they may be taking over as new servers. it looks like ARM processors as servers may be the way to go! While I didn’t know much about ARM processors, the author makes a great case for using them as servers!
And lastly a great post on the Parasound NewClassic AMP. I really liked this post because I have to admit, I don’t know much about AMPS for our home theater and I not only learned a lot about them, but also the features that I need to know as well!
People are always asking me “what do you mean you don’t watch tv the traditional way? How do you do it then?” Well, I’m going to tell you. This is the way that you can tell Directv, Dish Network, or Cable to stuff it!
We bought a Mac Mini, and hooked it up to our tv. I will tell you to buy a newer one, because they support HDMI straight from the tv to the Mac mini and this will save a lot of hassle in dealing with audio and video (trust me!!! I know!). Now, we also have 2, 2tb hard drives, one for movies and one for tv. These are both hooked up to the mini at all times, so you don’t overload your hard drive on the mini itself.
As for the local channels, we have an elgato eye tv hooked up to the Mac so we can watch local channels, this also works as a DVR and will import them onto your hard drives, so you won’t miss your favorite big network shows. Since we don’t have anyone in the area who deals with the old tv antenna, we bought one and hooked it all up ourselves. We receive 5 of the 7 local channels, so we’re pretty happy about that.
Now, I will tell you the upfront cost is steep. With the Mac mini price about $750 after tax, the the Elgato about $200 and the Antenna about $50, it comes to a total of $1000. Now, that seems like a lot, but we were paying Directv about $100 a month. We have had this set up for over a year and have now saved money
Mac mini $750 Directv monthly bill $100
Elgato $200 times 12 months
Antenna $50
Total: $1000 Total: $1080
That is just the total for the first year of not having Directv. We will never have to pay the $100 a month ever! So by using this system, we have an extra $1080 in our happy little pockets!
If you want more information about the setup or etc, leave a comment with your email and I will be glad to help you out!
So my husband made the mistake of leaving his iPad at home today. He,he,he! I have had so much fun writing blog posts while my littlest one is snuggling on me because she is really sick. I have decided that what I really want for Christmas is an iPad!
I have a feeling that the 3G model is the best. So, Santa, I have been a good girl
We bought the Apple iPad yesterday and love it! My husband has to travel next week and desperately wanted one to take on his trip. After saving our pennies, we bought it! It is really cool! When Apple first announced the iPad, I was pretty convinced that it was just a bigger iPod Touch. In a way, it is, but at the same time, it has cooler functions. Being able to watch movies off of our Netflix instant queue is pretty nice, plus the iPad games are awesome. I just wish that more of the iPod App developers will transfer over their apps to an iPad format, as they are just small on the bigger screen. While you can enlarge them, some of them get too pixelated to really see them.
Overall, I will admit, I have iPad envy, but I am cool with the iPod Touch! However, if you have the money (I would suggest using cash, not credit), then pick one up today!
I was purusing through some of my favorite websites, when I stumbled across this bit of info: if you have a 2nd Gen iPod Touch, you can use the Skype application and use it as a phone in your wifi areas! Not bad! Especially since both Brad & I use it for our regular and business phone lines.
Just a bit of information I thought you couldn’t live without!

So, if you are a college student and you need a new Mac, make sure to take up the free iPod Touch offer! Now, first make sure that you understand this: you get the iPod Touch (8GB) for free via rebate, so you do have to fork over the dough first, but in less than a month, you get the money back. Perfect timing for your credit card bill payment!
I ordered my hubby’s Mac Book Pro and his iPod Touch and am just awaiting for them to show up. I have to admit, I am pretty jealous of the whole iPod Touch thing. Granted, I could be a total wanker and steal the iPod Touch for myself, but then that would create marital strife and etc and it’s just not worth it.
Eventually when I make the big bucks, then I will get the cool stuff too!
