If you are fan of True Blood like I do, you will be happy to know that Season 3 is now on DVD and Blu-Ray! This season was a really good season. It was grittier than normal, Sookie really stepped up and showed her stuff and we found out that there are sexy werewolves & witches out there too (as if you didn’t know already)! It was full of action and craziness!
BossyPants, written by the nerd-do-well herself, Miss Tina Fey takes us on a funny journey through her life. She talks about growing up, working at Saturday Night Live and then producing her own show 30 Rock and all the bumps and funnies along the way.
While I don’t agree with Tina Fey on a political level, I love her! She is funny, sarcastic and great! Let’s face it, if you are a cool enough star to have a Sesame Street satire about you, then you’ve hit the big time!
What I like about Tina is that she has no problem saying what’s on her mind. In society, where we tend to be so guarded about what we say, she is refreshing. Also the fact that she has become a nerd-do-well in a predominately male workforce is awesome and inspiring! Thank you Tina Fey!
NBC is hoping to bring back Wonder Woman! I really hope that this gets picked up for production as I am a HUGE Wonder Woman fan. NBC promises that if this project gets green-lit, it won’t be high on the cheese factor. (Thank God!)While I am really looking forward to this, I am not so sure about the costume. Wonder Woman has never worn pants as her costume and I really don’t dig the pants, or the lack of red boots. Everyone knows that Wonder Woman’s boots are red, not blue!
If you don’t recognize Miss Adrienne Palicki, it’s because she’s not playing trailer-trash, Tyra from Friday Night Lights. I’m wondering how this casting might go. Adrianne has proven herself as one bad girl in the past, but can she pull off playing an Amazon?
At Emerald City Comicon, I got a chance to talk with Jacob Chabot, of the Might Skullboy Army comic, which is a kids comic! (YEA!!!) As a mom, finding kid-friendly comics can be hard, so I jump at the chance to find a new one for my kiddos!
Jacob talks about how he got into kid comics and why he got into kid comics as well. He talks about the new Spongebob comic as well!
Yep, that’s right you now stream videos and TV shows through Amazon.com! Most of the TV episodes are around $2.99. However, if you have paid for an Amazon Prime Membership, a lot of the videos and TV episodes are now free!!!
So, if like me, you don’t have cable, satellite or etc and you watch TV through your computer (or even if you do have those things), make sure to check out Amazon.com’s video streaming!
Now, I will say that while I plan to use Amazon streaming, I will not be shutting off Netflix. I still enjoy Netflix and they have a lot of good kid shows and movies that my kids like to watch, plus I like getting the DVDs in the mail as well. So I would suggest Amazon Video as a supplement to Netflix, but not a replacement.
While I am not a big vampire-junkie, I do love Being Human (BBC Version)! So I was goofing off when I should have been working on laundry, when I found this great interview with Aidan from BBC Three. Even if you watch the US version of Being Human. It’s still worth checking out!
For all my Guild webisode followers, the new season is up! When we last left off, Codex was sleeping with the enemy (Wil Wheaton)! What will happen to The Guild next? Also, if you are in the Pacific Northwest area, make sure to stop in and say hey to Felicia Day, Wil Wheaton and Amy Okuda at Emerald City Comicon on March 4th – 6th, 2011 at the Seattle Convention Center.
So over the years, we (Americans) have ripped off a good chunk of BBC shows. While some of them are good, some should not have been remade for the US. Here are my thoughts on some of the shows.
Being Human: I will start right off and say that this one is a toss up. While I like the BBC version, I have to say that I am liking the US version just a little bit more. I think the characters are played better in the US version. But time will tell what the verdict is on this one, as it’s so new!
Life on Mars: BBC wins this one. The acting and the characters were better served in the BBC version. I think the fact that the BBC version had more seasons than the US version also answers this question.
American Idol (Pop Idol BBC): Thank you BBC for inspiring this insipid show! Big thanks on that one! Hate them both!
Top Gear: My opinion has been clearly stated about this one in a few blogs posts, but here is goes again. Love the BBC version, hate the US version!
So, I’m starting to wonder whether Americans have any creativity left? We seem to just be ripping off the Brits, but then we make fun of them as a country. Other than Strictly Come Dancing and Pop Idol, their versions of the shows (which were first, by the way) seem to be better overall. Why don’t we just air their shows instead of wasting the money to redo them? Any thoughts???
Yesterday I posted on my Facebook page that I was getting really tired of Rachel’s (played by Lea Michele) singing. Her voice is starting to grate on me like nails on a chalkboard! Last season it didn’t bother me as much, but this season, I have started to fast forward her songs, so that I don’t have to listen to it. I’m not sure what caused the switch, but it sounds as if she is singing through her nose, instead of her diaphragm. I’m not sure if she is trying to channel Barbra Streisand or what, but Babs can make it work, Lea, honey you can’t.
Rachel’s character is really starting to lose fans. Don’t believe me? See the We Hate Rachel Berry page. This isn’t the only one, she has 8 hate pages total. Now while they are not directed at her personally, they are directed at her character, maybe Fox ought to take some notice.
Hate page ranking:
Rachel: 8
Finn: 3
Quinn: 1
The rest of the cast has none. I think this is a pretty clear indicator that people ought to stand up and take notice before the show implodes. The one thing that I give kudos to Fox about is that they are featuring the other cast members more so it’s not just the Finn and Rachel variety show that it was last season. My favorite singer on Glee happens to be Artie, who is your? If Rachel bugging you too? Let me know, maybe if we get enough people to respond Fox will listen!
