New Show to Watch: Once Upon A Time

When Once Upon a Time frist came out, I watched the pilot like everyone else. I wasn’t sure what I thought about it, so I stopped watching it. But after a few weeks of hearing the buzz of what a great show it was, I decided to give it another chance. I am SO glad that I did!

What I have come to love about this show is the mesh of what’s happening in our world and what happened in the storybook character’s world. I also like the little twists within the stories, such as Prince Charming being betrothed to King Midas’s daughter before even meeting Snow White. Oh, and Snow White being a bad ass thief is pretty cool too! This is yet another Adam Horowitz hit and let’s face it with his credentials, he’s on a roll!

If you haven’t checked out Once Upon a Time, you can catch up on Amazon!

Yet another reason to love Benedict Cumberbatch…

A friend posted this interview with Benedict Cumberbatch of Sherlock and I love it! Hope you enjoy it too! There are rumors circulating that Benedict is slated to be in the next Star Trek movie, however his role has yet to be disclosed.

Star Trek Catan

Star Trek Catan

I am really excited to announce that Kosmos, creator of Settlers of Catan , have created a Star Trek Catan. It looks really cool and I can’t wait to play it, however I can’t seem to find either a release date or who is selling it.

I also looked on the Catan website and could not find any information regarding this game, so I am hoping that it is not a hoax.

I really like Catan and it’s really fun to play! Besides, how often can you laugh at “Do you have wood for my sheep?” Just curious, watch this great clip from The Big Bang Theory playing Settlers of Catan!

Sherlock: BBC’s finest

Let’s set the Way Back Machine to a year ago.

I am a HUGE fan of Sherlock Holmes! I was sorely disappointed in the Sherlock Holmes movie starring Robert Downey, Jr. and I was nervous when I first saw the previews for Sherlock. However, the BBC Sherlock was not a disappointment! I loved it and found it to be very close to the original books, which was odd considering that it was set in modern times.

Benedict Cumberbatch is the perfect Sherlock Holmes! Martin Freeman is a great Dr. John Watson and plays really well against Sherlock. I think that the writers have done an amazing job with Sherlock. Thank you to Mark Gatiss, who produced, wrote and plays Mycroft Holmes in this great series!

I loved this show so much that I gave it as a birthday gift to my father in law, who is a huge Sherlock Holmes fan too. (He loved it too!) So when I heard that they would be completing a Season 2, I was excited!

Fast forward to now.

The second season of Sherlock hasn’t disappointed! I love season 2 better than season 1. We meet Irene Adler, see the Hounds of Baskerville and have a show down with Moriarty! So make sure to watch them on BBC America!!!

American Horror Story: Tune in on Mondays!

Lately, there have been a lot of sci-fi and sit-coms starting out this new fall season, and while I like both, I want something edgy and a little scary as well. But I am sick of vampires, werewolves and zombies, so now what? Well, in comes American Horror Story, which premieres tonight (10/3/2011).  After looking at the website, it looks edgy and creepy! I am excited for this one and I hope that it live up to what it’s previewing! So tonight, curl up with a blanket, shut off all the lights and be prepared..

Grey’s Anatomy = Welcome to the Suck!

And the winner of the We’ve Jumped the Shark Too Many Times goes to…Grey’s Anatomy! I live in the

Suck it Grey's!

Seattle area and this show is starting to make me hate it!

First it was a ferry crash. Okay, really? I commuted to Downtown Seattle via ferry for awhile and never had a ferry crash. The worst that happened in the last 10 years is a bump into the docks due to technical malfunction. Only the docks got a little bit of damage, no people were injured.

There have been others that have been tolerable, but this last shark jumping of a giant sinkhole? Really!!!

No, theoretically this could happen as part of the Seattle waterfront is built on piers, but the likelihood of such a sinkhole is pretty slim! Now, Port Orchard which is across the Puget Sound from Seattle had a sinkhole occurrence in 2007 due to massive flooding. (For more info on that click here.) Part of Port Orchard is built up on piers much like Seattle, however the damage shown on Grey’s was ridiculous compared to what actually occurred in Port Orchard.

So needless to say, I am so sick of the crap drama and the crap disasters that are really starting to make Washington, especially the Puget Sound area look like a dangerous pit fall. Thanks Grey’s, you suck! Can Seattle Grace transfer to another state please! Quit making ours look bad with your bs natural disasters and hospital shootings. As far as I can see in my research online, there were no hospital shootings in the state of Washington in the last 5 years, so thanks Grey’s for scaring the public!

While I can’t deter my husband from watching this crap sandwich with a side of crap, I will not be watching it anymore. Goodbye Grey’s have a nice shark jumping BS filled life!

Glee, Season 3: Completely un-gleeful

Okay, I normally like Glee and think it’s a pretty ok show, however after watching last night’s episode, I want to vomit. The characters are now dated and crappy, I am sick of the whiny Rachel and her sidekick Kurt. I also admit that it was pretty appalling when I saw the school counselor hand Kurt a “You and your Fag Hag” brochure. (Sure, we all know it’s true, but really? A bit tactless!) Oh, yeah and they are singing more show tunes (badly).

But there’s more! We now add Blaine to the New Directions (Um I mean lack of directions). So at least we will have one half way decent voice among the choir now. As I said the characters are dated and crappy and the only one whom I was remotely interested in was Quinn. I dig the new look an attitude, Quinn, reminds me of me! Rebel Yell, baby!

As usual, there is a war between Sue and Will, Rachel and Finn are back together and all seems right with the world of Glee. Too perfect, just like the musicals of old. However, I actually enjoy those.

This season’s opener made me want to put ear plugs in and scream to cover the crap singing. So, if you are Glee fan, have fun. But I do not plan of DVR’ing this crap anymore.

Glee, take a bow and walk offstage! Oh, yea, please now encore, really!

Eureka’s It Couple, or Are They??? Jo & Zane

Eureka (TV series)

Image via Wikipedia

I am a huge Eureka fan! So this last half season really threw me for a loop, especially when it came to my favorite Eureka couple, Jo & Zane.

Season 3 ended with Zane asking Jo to marry him and she responded that she needed to think about it. Of course later that day, Jo, Carter, Allison, Henry & Fargo were sent back to 1947. When they came back, Jo said yes to Zane. Only problem was that Zane didn’t know what she was talking about. They changed the time line so now Zane & Jo never dated. Well, slowly Zane is discovering what he was to Jo and they are slowly starting back up as a couple. Let’s just hope it stays that way!

Book Review: BossyPants by Tina Fey

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey at the premiere of Ba...

BossyPants, written by the nerd-do-well herself, Miss Tina Fey takes us on a funny journey through her life. She talks about growing up, working at Saturday Night Live and then producing her own show 30 Rock and all the bumps and funnies along the way.

While I don’t agree with Tina Fey on a political level, I love her! She is funny, sarcastic and great! Let’s face it, if you are a cool enough star to have a Sesame Street satire about you, then you’ve hit the big time!

What I like about Tina is that she has no problem saying what’s on her mind. In society, where we tend to be so guarded about what we say, she is refreshing. Also the fact that she has become a nerd-do-well in a predominately male workforce is awesome and inspiring! Thank you Tina Fey!

Make sure to check out her new book!
