I had a chance to sit down with my mom, my daughter, Sophia & I and play the SimplyFun game, Bank It! This game was a lot of fun! What I liked about this game is that it teaches kids, not only how to buy, but to save and to give to charity as well. This is a great game for kids who are just learning about money (my 6 year old for example) or kids who need to learn to be better with their money. So watch the video and enjoy!
This homemade headboard made from poster board and fun materials is a great project for any budding artist or wanna-be interior designer! This is a great project for elementary to middle school kids! This great project was found in Family Fun!
While the pattern instructions are for a flower design, any person with a creative flare can change the pattern to suit whatever shape or object they want. I think we might try a crown with my 6 year old!
I can’t wait to start this craft with my kiddo and this could be a great craft as a home school art project or just for a budding artist. By changing up your headboards, this can create a new feel to the room and help foster individuality in a shared bedroom!
Now for the contest part! If you complete this craft with your kids, please send me a photo and the best photo will win a free year of Family Fun Magazine!
Whether you agree with the current President of the United States or not, this President’s Day, have your kids send him a letter! (Let’s face it, it’s a hard job no matter what!) What better way to get involved then by writing a letter! Click the address link to get the correct address or you can send an electronic letter to him as well!
Also if you have kids that want to learn more about what the President does, make sure to check out this great link! Scholastic Books has a great audio-read along book about the President and what his job is. My 6 year old really enjoyed learning more about the President today on this great President’s Day.
My parents picked this game up at a street fair in the 70′s. I have played this game for many years a love it! Unfortunately, it is hard to find. But this game teaches about organic farming, and the process of farming.
Farmer Cards
Each farmer has a card to fill. The top (brown) cards are for setting up your farm, so they include tools, tractors and etc that you need to buy. The middle (green) line are for your animals and the bottom (blue) line are for your products from the farm. Now a farmer must purchase their items in order, so you have to fill the top line before you fill the middle and the bottom. The board also has some tricky spaces, such as the poisonous pesticides space, which you lose some of your items. My 6 year old loves this game, but I will warn you, it takes awhile to play! This is a Monopoly style game that takes some time, but it is really fun!
Digger’s Garden Match is one of the many SimplyFun games that I enjoy! This game is an offshoot of dominoes, but a lot more fun! Instead of just matching numbers, like on dominoes, you can match up either color or shape, while trying to gain the most points.
While this game is mostly for the preschool set, adults and older kids enjoy it too! I have played this with just myself and my husband and with a large group of kids ranging from 4 to 10 in ages and we all had fun!
So make sure to pick up a copy as this is a great addition to any household!
Amazon Mom Club is awesome! I just bought a box of Huggies (140 ct) for $25.00 and that included shipping! This is awesome because I don’t have to go to the store anymore to buy diapers or wipes, they come each month for me! Plus for every Amazon Mom purchase you make you get a free month of Amazon Prime (no shipping fees)! It’s a total win-win, plus at Costco at 140 ct box (even with a $5 off coupon, see this month’s coupon book) it’s still $30! So yea Amazon for making moms lives a little easier!
The letter of the day is “C” and the number of the day is “6″! C is for comics, that’s good enough for me! 6 is the number of Sesame Street “heroes” featured on this awesome shirt!
The Sesame Six T-Shirt
While it’s not an actual comic book yet, I think it might have some potential! Oscar the Grouch looks pretty bad and Elmo as the Human Torch is pretty awesome too! It looks like Big Bird steps in as Mr. Fantastic and Cookie Monster is The Thing. I can’t wait to sport my shirt around town! AJ Paglia, the artist of this great t-shirt, had an idea to mash-up Sesame Street and the Fantastic Four.
While I was in the Christian book store yesterday, I ran across this amazing version of the bible: The Action Bible! The artwork was amazing and the story was fun to read! My six year old loves it and she finally understands the bible stories now! My 36 year old hubby wants a copy too! I feel that this bible is amazing in so many different ways: first for the visual person, it’s awesome to have pictures, secondly, it’s great for someone who is learning to read and lastly, what a great way to reach us comic book nerds!
I am currently working on scheduling a podcast with Sergio Cariello, the illustrator of The Action Bible. Sergio has worked for both DC Comics and Marvel as an illustrator (Batman and Daredevil to name a couple). I am really excited to talk to a fellow comic nerd and Christian! So make sure to check back for the podcast! If you want to know more about The Action Bible, check out this great video!
Well, today (Feb 3rd) is Elmo’s Birthday! So if you have little ones, make sure to head on over to celebrate! There are great games and coloring pages for the celebration! We are going to celebrate by watching Elmo today!
Enjoy a great interview with a classic Sesame Street character!
