This year’s New Years Eve was a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun playing games at my local game store and even

Wes & Richard playing Power Grid with me at Wandering Havoc Games
learned a few new games.
Power Grid is a resource/strategy game. I normally don’t dig strategy game, because I suck at them. However Power Grid is a lot of fun. You can buy coal, garbage, oil or nuclear factory to power a city that you buy. What really gets fun is when you get to Stage 2 and you can buy power stations right next to other players. We can get a little bit competitive at times! (Okay, we get really competitive!) But it was fun and I would definitely suggest picking up a copy of Power Grid.
Penny Arcade The Game – Gamers vs. Evilwas super fun! It’s a deck building game and the cards are hilarious! Such as the Touching Wieners card, (see photo below).

Touching Wieners card
We had WAY too much fun with this card! (That’s what I get for playing with Wes & Richard!) It was the first deck building game that I have played and it was a lot of fun! I liked that the cards were funny and entertaining! I tried to play Dominion, but gave up. Dominion is a great game, if you know what you are doing. I think that now that I know how to play a deck building game, I will enjoy Dominion even more. But back to PAX – Gamers vs. Evil, the game was great and a lot of fun to play! I would suggest playing with friends who have either a great sense of humor or a twisted sense of humor, both make this game really fun to play!
So those are my two new games that I need to make it through 2012! I will be reviewing more games as I try them out, so make sure to check back!
(P.S. Thanks to Richard and Wes for unwittingly being a part of my blogosphere!)

So Christmas is coming up in like, 10 days. Oh, Boy! People keep asking me what I want for Christmas, so here is goes!
- Any Shadowrun book! My Saturday gaming group just switched over to playing Shadowrun and I am hooked! I have the core book, but why just have that when there are SO many others to add cool stuff with! Shadowrun is a post-apocalyptic world set in Seattle (woot! woot!) and there is technology and magic involved and it’s pretty awesome! Think Ghost in the Shell.
- Disneyland Adventures Kinect Game! I tried this game out at this year’s (2011) PAX Prime and it was a lot of fun! Now, this isn’t just a game for me, either, it’s for the whole family, so I like that too! This game was a ton of fun, because you got to travel around the park, meet up with characters and have a lot of fun! My 7 year old will love this game too!
- Sesame Street’s Once Upon a Monster! Okay, again I know, a kid game, but it’s the only game that my 2 & 1/2 year old can really attempt to play for the Kinect and she wants to play SO badly! Sometimes, watching your kids have fun with a video game is a gift enough! This game will teach Sarah to make up stories and she can interact with her favorite characters, Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadaby! Every time she sees the commercial for this, she goes nuts!
- The Hunger Games series. Okay, so I really just need the last book, but if you haven’t read them, you should! This series is the first in a long time to really captivate me, and it’s a kid/teen series too. I am not a big fan of this demographic when it comes to novels, but this series hooked me. Plus there is the movie version of the first book coming out in March. Check out the trailer!
- Any Terry Prachett Discworld book. I have played the game and it was fun, so when I found out that it was based on a series of books, I got very excited!
- My friends and family to be happy. (I know, it’s a little Miss America sounding!) My friends and I have had a crazy year and I just want it to end on a good note!
So whether I get any of these things or not, I hope that I helped you find a few gift ideas and I hope that most of all you enjoy Christmas or Hanukkah with your friends and family. The most important gift to me is seeing my friends and family happy!

TRON cupcakes
(This was sent to me by a dear friend Wendy!) I am a HUGE TRON nerd. I love TRON! I can’t help it, I do! So when my friend, Wendy sent this my way, I had a nerdgasm!
This great website, TipJunkie has the coolest birthday party stuff! They have printables, great ideas and everything you could need, including a birthday planning worksheet! This is a new favorite of mine, as I have two little girls with birthdays coming up!
But most of all, they have TRON birthday stuff!! How awesome is that!!! So make sure to check out TipJunkie for you awesome party needs and ideas!

Whether you agree with the current President of the United States or not, this President’s Day, have your kids send him a letter! (Let’s face it, it’s a hard job no matter what!) What better way to get involved then by writing a letter! Click the address link to get the correct address or you can send an electronic letter to him as well!
Also if you have kids that want to learn more about what the President does, make sure to check out this great link! Scholastic Books has a great audio-read along book about the President and what his job is. My 6 year old really enjoyed learning more about the President today on this great President’s Day.
