Since this year’s election seems to be clouding everyone’s judgement, vote nerd! My vote is for Whovian. Who are you voting for?
Thanks to the wonderful world of Google +, I found this great blog by MaryAnn Johnson called Flick Filosopher, in which MaryAnn does movie reviews and commentary for new movies in theater, DVD and etc.
What I like about MaryAnn versus other movie review sites is that she present the information with humor, but also I love her icons on each of the photos of the movie to be reviewed. (Such as skip it, rent it or see it.) I like this because let’s face it, I don’t always have time to read everything I see on the internet, but I like that I can see the icon (especially if it says Skip It) and read the review later.
So far, I have yet to disagree with MaryAnn’s reviews, so that’s pretty nice too! I hate it when you find a review site that feels differently than you about almost every movie out there! What I also enjoy about her blog is the amount of content! If there is a movie to be seen or reviewed, she’s done it!
So make sure to check out Flick Filopsopher and have some fun before you go to the movies!
After completing the Star Wars Baby Blanket for a friend, I needed a new pattern to design and test out. So, since I’ve been a World Of Warcraft convert and I am a big Horde fan, I decided to create this awesome Horde pattern and on a really boring Friday, I tested it out.
It turned out really cool and I am really excited to work on a For the Horde afghan. This might take me a while, but it will be really fun and I am looking forward to it!
I am new to the whole trading card game thing, so when the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game got to be more popular at our local game store, Wandering Havoc, I thought “what the hell! Why not!” So that was November 2011. Fast forward to now (Jan 2012) and I still love it! While I am not the best player out there, as I am still learning how it all works, I am getting better and better with each game. I am actually starting to win a few games during tournaments, which never used to happen. The biggest thing I have learned about the WOW TCG is to ask for help. I was missing a lot of easy and killer moves because I didn’t fully understand the cards. So, I ask for help.
As I am not typically one to ask for help, this was a bit daunting for me. But after I did, I learned so much! I even silly things that I would have never thought to ask, like being able to stack abilities. (Which I do like crazy now!) Learning how to build decent and OP (overpowering) decks was fun. I learned to watch my fellow players, especially when they were beating me to see what I could do differently next time.
So, while I’m still not the best player in the world, I enjoy it and I have learned a lot about the game and myself in the process. I’m 106th in the State of Washington (as of Jan 12, 2012) out of 204, so that’s not too bad since it’s the first TCG I’ve ever played!
Let me start by saying, I do not play Magic. I couldn’t wrap my head around it, but I like watching other people play and the artwork on the cards are downright amazing! Magic’s upcoming release of The Dark Ascension is right up there with other releases in it’s artwork quality!
The newest feature on this upcoming set is the transforming ability through the card calles Soul Stealer. This allows you to transform your opponent’s creature and then you control it!
All in all, this expansion looks really cool and I will know more about it from my Magic playing friends when it pre releases on January 28th-29th. For more information, or to see just how the transform ability works, head over the here!
So my kick-ass gamer friend, Jessie and I decided that we were going to put together an episode of Guide to Gamers, or whatever we really end up naming our vidcast show. So we had the great idea to go through Mordenkainen’s Magnificent Emporium book from Dungeons & Dragons 4E.
We talk about the cool stuff that we want for our characters, plus some of the funnier (named items) as well. And as per normal in any gamer environment, there are a few dick and fart jokes. (When you are a girl gamer in a predominantly boy gaming world, you learn to throw these out like crazy.)
So, we hope that you enjoy it! (And please keep in mind, this is our first episode! )
While pursuing the web, I stumbled across this little tidbit! It’s photos of the Avengers working on the newest movie, which I am psyched for!!!
I will be honest, I am not sure how the Hulk is going to be with Mark Ruffalo. I think that the fact that the actor playing the Hulk has switched 3 times in the last year is not a good sign. Is there a Hulk casting curse that we are unaware of? (E True Hollywood story to follow?)
But all in all, I am excited for this one!
I have been watching AggressiveComix for a short while now and I love her reviews! She is witty, no-holds-barred honest and I love that! What’s also kick butt is that she is an actual NERD, not some poser wanna-be who just wants to make it big on YouTube! (I’m sure she wants to make it big, but she’s not a sell out (insert Olivia Munn jokes here)!)
Jenny is by far one of the better reviewers of nerdstuff and I highly encourage you to watch her, in fact, watch this!
Today, September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day! So, if you want to help celebrate further, here is how you can change your Facebook language to Pirate.
