Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2: spoiler alert!

Coat of arms of Hogwarts, the fictional school...

I recently saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 and I have to tell you, I loved it! I was really happy that there were only 30 minutes leading up to the big battle scenes and about an hour and a half of battle royal! I really felt that it lived up to what was written in the book and was just what I pictured in my head as I read it.

I loved Professor McGonagal’s battle royale scenes, she had some serious game left in her! I also liked how they showed the epilogue of the story as well. It put a really nice (and pleasant) end to the series.

I would suggest however that younger kids not see this movie. It’s pretty intense and there are some scenes that may scare your kids. I would not take my 6 year old to see this, as it would give her nightmares. This movie is definitely for the 13 and up crowd.

So, grab a babysitter and see it with your significant other!

Battle of the Batmans: Tim, Joel or Chris?

The Batman (TV series)

So, this lovely morning, I am watching Batman, Tim Burton style and I got to wondering, who has done the Batman series justice?

We have Tim Burton’s stylized Batman and Batman Returns, which I love. It’s dark, gritty, and well done. The only downfall of this series is the Prince soundtrack on the first Batman. Jack Nicholson does an amazing job as the Joker and Micheal Keaton makes a good Batman.

Next we have Joel Schumaker’s Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. These are the campy ones, much like the tv show was. These are better for kids to enjoy, they are light and brainless, I feel, but my kids like them. Upside is watching Jim Carrey play the Riddler and Uma Thurman play Poison Ivy.

Lastly, we have Chris Nolan’s versions, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. These are darker, grittier and the plot is better than both Tim & Joel. (Sorry Tim, still love you!) And while I would have never thought to cast Christian Bale as Batman, it works. Plus, let’s not forget Heath Ledger’s Joker, which has been the best Joker ever, hands down. His Joker brings creepy and psychotic to a whole new level. (Trust me, I wrote a psych paper based in him and I was told it was too long and par it down.)

So, now the question, Batman fans: which series is your favorite? Tim, Joel or Chris?

Derezzed Music Video – Daft Punk Rocks!!!

Okay, so I’m on a bit of TRON kick today. It happens! THis has to be one of my favorite songs to run to, work out to, and just listen to. What I love about this song, especially when I’m running (yes, nerds run) is that it one of those songs that the beat just drives me (or you). So, as I have the day off of running, Enjoy this awesome song on me!

Tron Legacy in 8-Bit!

As a TRON fan, I thought this was pretty awesome! I hope that you guys like it too!

Movie Trailer: Atlas Shrugged, Part 1

I read this book years ago and thought it would be a good fit for a movie adaptation. So I am really excited to see the trailer for this new movie. I am glad that they have split it into two parts, as it is a bigger book that deserves to be a two part movie. I am bummed because this movie only hit select theaters in April and the select theaters are no where close to where I live, so I will just have to wait for it to come closer or for the DVD release. If you are like me and no where near a theater where it played, then at least enjoy the trailer!

Thor is a god!

Chris Hemsworth as Thor as depicted in the upc...

I got a chance to see Marvel’s Thor and I have to tell you it was everything that I hoped for! Chris Hemsworth as Thor was amazing! He really did a great job of playing the Norse god and keeping it plausible. So many actors get so wrapped up in playing the character, that they fail to play the character. Chris nailed the Norse god perfectly. Cocky, bold and brash.

Now, I will say that I am not the Thor reader in the family, that’s my husband, but I enjoyed the movie even though I only know a bit of the history. I think that this movie is good for people who love Thor comics and for people who want to see a good Marvel hero movie.

This is not really a kid movie, however, so please parents, take your kids with caution. My husband and I always preview the super hero movies first then let our kids watch them with us.

The storyline did not fall flat and kept me interested, which lately hasn’t happened with the newly released movies. I admit that I was a bit nervous that Kenneth Branagh was directed, as he is part of the Royal Shakespearian Actors, I was afraid that he would play it a little to tragic Shakespearean style for my liking. (I love Shakespeare, but not as a action film) Overall, it was a good movie and I hope that you check it out this weekend!
