Audio/Visual Pacifer

Jenny Masche of Raising Sextuplets calls these great DVD’s her “audio/visual pacifers”. What dvd’s are they? Praise Baby! These great dvd’s are a hit in our household with not only my baby, but my 5 year old as well. They feature great praise music set to cool scenes and pictures. Not only that, but they are a great way to either start the day with some great praise music or they are a great way to end your day, especially the hectic ones. Because let’s face it, it’s kind of hard to be ticked off when you are singing praise music! Have you ever tried singing “God of Wonders” while gritting your teeth? It’s pretty funny!

So far the two that I enjoy the most are My Father’s World, to start my day out and Sleepytime Lullabies to end my day. Not only are these great dvd’s for the kids, but it definitely helps me stay in a good mood throughout the day.  Believe me when I say, I can tell when we haven’t watched one! My attitude goes in the trash!

Make sure to check out these great dvd’s for your kids!

Portland Marathon, aka, what was I thinking??? Week One

After watching the Raising Sextuplets episode from two weeks ago, I felt inspired. If Jenny Masche, mom to sextuplets could do a half-marathon in the Surf City USA Marathon, then why couldn’t I, mother of two, complete a full marathon? So, after watching the episode, I went for a quick run and felt empowered. I got done with my run and announced that I was going to enter the Portland Marathon. It seems like I am always training for something and then it falls through. I admit that I tend to quit things. Well, now, I am determined to see this thing through. I have twelve weeks until the race and I think I can make it. I am planning to do a low-key pace during the marathon, infact, I think that I will end of walking most of it, but I really want the finisher’s medal and that’s what matters to me. (Cut me a little bit of slack, I just had a baby two months ago!) Next year, it’s running time!

So, this begins the countdown, Week One. I have a lot to get going on. I plan on hitting the gym for a three mile run on the treadmill. I would prefer to be outside in the beautiful weather, however Sophia‘s jog stroller went to jog stroller heaven (after literally being used for thousands of miles!) and she whines the whole way if we walk for more than a mile. (She’s only four.) With Sarah only being a couple of months old and not totally able to hold up her head by herself, I can’t put them both in the bike cart, besides I need the conversion wheel and handlebar parts for our bike cart anyway! So, off to the gym where the kids can play and I can run without abandon.

My goals for the week:

  1. Eat healthy and follow my Weight Watchers
  2. Run 3 miles, 3x this week
  3. keep breathing and try to enjoy the process!

A new show that you should check out!

I have a show that I just have to shamelessly plug: Raising Sextuplets! If you are a fan of Jon & Kate + 8, but hate watching 1. the way they talk to each other & 2. their divorce issues, then check out the Masche family on the WE channel! Raising Sextuplets is about Brian and Jenny Masche and their six kids. What I love about this show is the way that Brian and Jenny relate to each other! They don’t yell at each other or bark out orders, they talk to each other like human beings! Brian just finished his MBA and works full time and Jenny is a P.A. or Physicians Assistant part time. They are a Christian couple who practices what they preach! (Amen to that!) Jenny also writes on the WE Channel’s Raising Sextuplets blog, which is always refreshing to read.

So, make sure to check out the newest crew on the multiples block, Raising Sextuplets. It’s on Thursday nights on the WE Channel at 10 EST.

Help! This mom is sinking!!!

51V7PFBM41L

I recently started to read Mom Overboard by Robin Chaddock. I have tried reading this book before, but it just wasn’t the right timing for me to really take in and process the information. Well, now it is. This book gives moms 12 lifesavers for moms who’d rather swim than sink.

Are you feeling the following?

  • Forgetfullness
  • mind/body split
  • Inability to enjoy anything
  • overwhelming need to get away
  • feeling isolated
  • dissatisfaction with life
  • inability to be quiet and still
  • going against your better judgment
  • you are spending more than you make
  • you feel inferior
  • you are angry

If any of these sound like you, then find a copy of this book soon! Robin’s practical guide with discussion questions for you to really dig deep into your personality and psyche and figure out what needs to be changed. Robin also uses the Bible and what God things of us as moms, not what we think which tends to be wrong.

This book will help you change the way you think about yourself and your job as a mother.

Weight Watchers Online

6254_105191333305_657003305_2067589_4281822_n

This picture was taken on Saturday and I have never been more disgusted with myself! What happened to me, I realize that I just had a baby two months ago, but I look awful! Well, today I took the plunge and joined Weight Watchers Online. I never fully realized what lousy food choices I was making! Oy! What I really love about this site is the community. After just signing up today, I have made two friends, joined two groups and I feel like I have the support to make this work, instead of falling by the wayside.

The points tracker is a great tool, but I am still trying to understand the whole Points thing. I know if I read some more that I will figure it out. I also like the activity tracker, weight tracker and recipe finder! I really love the recipe finder! I admit that I am not much of a planner when it comes to food, especially at dinnertime. I used to be so good about that stuff, that is until I had kids! What I liked about Weight Watchers versus Jenny Craig and etc was the fact that Weight Watchers teaches you how to eat, not just ship you food.

Right now, I weigh 148 pounds, which may not sound like a lot, but on a petite 5′ frame, it is! Yes, I realize that I had a baby two months ago and that I teach water fitness twice a week, but still if the eating habits aren’t there, the weight will never come off! Oh, yeah, and I failed my 30 day challenge on EA Active, so I have to start all over!

I am excited for this new journey and getting back on track! I think it will be a great thing!

Great baby products!

My littlest one, Sarah, who is now two months old is quite a kid! She is definatley different from her outgoing sister. Sarah is colicky off and on, which can be a struggle. After a really long night up with her, I finally went into my local health food store and talked to the owner. He showed me the Nature’s Baby Aromatherapy Calming Spray, Baby’s Bliss Gripe Water, and Nature Baby’s Organic Soothing Stick for her poor chapped cheeks!

That day I went home and sprayed her swing, car seat, crib and her vibrating chair with the calming spray. I have to say, it did calm her down! Also the smell is a good lavendar, not too harsh, and calming for even me!

The gripe water, which I put into her bottles, made a huge difference for her! No more crying jags and upset tummies! It’s not an instant cure, but it helps her overall. I was happy and so was she!

And for the Organic Soothing Stick, it works awesome! I use it on my four year old and myself when we have boo-boos and owies as well!

I truly believe that these three products are things that moms can’t live without!

A great resource for moms!

In trying to set up a dialy schedule for my four year old, I happened to Bing the following website Chart Jungle! There are charts for everything and there are even chore bucks and etc! Needless to say, i put my printer to work! I printed out the weekly chore chart with pictures for my daughter, as she can’t read yet and I also printed out the chore bucks. I think this will be a big improvement in our household!

I also found a behaivor chart and bucks as well! I can’t wait to put those to good use as well! Sophia needs them!
