Nadya Suleman… Okay, this gal has rated a lot of coverage from tv, to magazines, to news shows. I think that people honestly don’t knwo what to think about her. I think that while I can understand her resistance to destroying extra embryos or lives, I can’t understand why someone would want 14 kids! She has six kids already, she is not working, she lives with her mom (who is about to lose her house) and she has no help.
Why would a woman in this type of situation bring on more stress and more strife?
I have nothing against women who choose to have lots of kids. Look at the TLC hit show “18 Kids and Counting.” The Duggar family has 18 children! That’s a lot!!! However, my difference with them or even Jon & Kate Gosselin of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” is that they are financially making it work! They are not a burden to the rest os society!
I want to make this perfectly clear right now, I have nothing against single moms, I have friends that are single moms who are making it work and I am damn proud of them! However, the difference between the single moms that I know and Nadya Suleman is this, they know when to quit. Nadya Suleman made a choice that was not a particularly good one in trying for another child after having six that she is raising by herself. Again, I would not have destroyed any of the embryos either, but at the same token, I would have never put myself in that position to start with.
What are your thoughts on Nadya Suleman?

If Nadya Suleman were Black would you care?
Kaluba,
For me, on this issue, race doesn’t matter to me. She could be any nationality and it would bother me. It’s the situation that she put herself in and what others now have to help her do that bothers me. I am a mom and I don’t rely on help from others. I am not saying that if someone needs help that they should not get it! I am a firm believer in doing what you have to do to take care of your family. Yes, there have been times when I have gone the the food bank because we could barely afford groceries. That was before kids, however.
I realize that she did not intend to have all eight kids at once, but I think that if she is struggling financially with 5 kids as it is, why would you want to even bring another child into that situation?
How is she going to afford things like college or the basic things that kids needs to thrive and survive in this world? That is one of the jobs as a parent, to get your kids ready for the world when they leave the nest. Can she do that?
I appreciate your comment, I do know people that are hung up on the race issue with regards to Nadya, but I am definitely not one of them!
