Dr. Horrible

Okay, I was surfing around and happened to find this little gem of Neil Patrick Harris’s Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. It is great for a laugh! I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did!

The Joys of Self-Hosting, Part Deuce

I am in the process of setting up my father’s website for his mission work with Prisoner’s For Christ. My dad has been to Africa twice with this great organization and is planning on going to India later this fall.

Anyway, we use Dreamhost and I was having the worst time actually setting up his WordPress blog. My usual helper is out of town, so I was pretty goofed there. Finally in an act of desperation, I googled “How to set up a WordPress blog on Dreamhost” and found this great treasure! Tech Mindset has one of the BEST video tutorials for setting this up! I was really impressed with:

  1. How easy it was
  2. How dumb I was to forget the most basic step in the first place!

This blog is great for not only WordPress issues, but other tech stuff as well. I highly encourage you to check it out!

Nadya Suleman….

Nadya Suleman… Okay, this gal has rated a lot of coverage from tv, to magazines, to news shows. I think that people honestly don’t knwo what to think about her. I think that while I can understand her resistance to destroying extra embryos or lives, I can’t understand why someone would want 14 kids! She has six kids already, she is not working, she lives with her mom (who is about to lose her house) and she has no help.

Why would a woman in this type of situation bring on more stress and more strife?

I have nothing against women who choose to have lots of kids. Look at the TLC hit show “18 Kids and Counting.” The Duggar family has 18 children! That’s a lot!!! However, my difference with them or even Jon & Kate Gosselin of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” is that they are financially making it work! They are not a burden to the rest os society!

I want to make this perfectly clear right now, I have nothing against single moms, I have friends that are single moms who are making it work and I am damn proud of them! However, the difference between the single moms that I know and Nadya Suleman is this, they know when to quit. Nadya Suleman made a choice that was not a particularly good one in trying for another child after having six that she is raising by herself. Again, I would not have destroyed any of the embryos either, but at the same token, I would have never put myself in that position to start with.

What are your thoughts on Nadya Suleman?

How Computer Games Help Kids Learn

Earlier I wrote a post about the book “How Computer Games Help Kids Learn“. After reading it, I was glad to return it to the library. Although this book is filled with information, I was disappointed that it read more like a doctoral dissertation. I didn’t realize when I checked it out the the books audience was geared towards educators and other academic types. I was really hoping that it was more for the general public.

All in all the book was informative, however, I will admit, I was not it’s target audience.

2 Chix Maternity Wear

I ran across the cutest Maternity wear in a pregnancy magazine and I just had to share it with you!

2Chix Maternity has some of the cutest and sassiest clothes out there! If you are big into celebs, here’s a list of the following celebs who have sported their clothes: Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Hasselback and Brooke Shields to name a few.

Their stuff is moderately priced $30 – 40 range depending on the item, however, if you are not picky, they do have some of the items that are slightly irregular for half the price. I am really excited because I just ordered the cutest sweatshirt from them and can’t wait to get it! So, make sure to check them out!

Kid Safe Search Engine

My wonderful hubby (Brad) was goofing around on StumbleUpon and found the coolest Kid Friendly search engine! It’s called KidRex and it’s powered by Google. My daughter loves it and thinks it’s pretty cool! I like it because I don’t need to worry about what might pop up for my daugheter’s web searches!

What to Expect vs. Pregnancy Week by Week (A giveaway too!)

A picture of my wife

I was looking at a friend’s copy of Your Pregnancy Week by Week and I really liked it! In fact, I ordered a copy off of Amazon. I liked it better because I felt I was given more pertanant information. The What to Expect When You Are Expecting book is good and full of great information, but for me, it was more like a “these are all the things that could go wrong in your pregnancy” book. I’m pregnant and hormonal, I don’t need more crap to worry about in my life. However, it was a good resource when I was dealing with placental previa, so it has good information, especially if you are having issues in your pregnancy.

So, if you are pregnant, I would suggest looking at both books and decide, or buy both. One to read weekly to really get the gist of what is going on in your pregnancy and one to read as a general overview and a what if book.

Tell me a bit about your pregnancy so far and enter to win a copy of Your Pregnancy Week by Week!

Chuck in 3D

I have to admit, I really enjoyed watching Churck in 3D! It was great! I also liked the 3D glasses, how they were yellow/blue versus the typical red/blue. For some reason, the yellow/blue combo was much easier on my eyes. I did, however have to wear my glasses underneath the 3D glasses, but I still really liked it! I hope that other TV shows get on the bandwagon with this concept.

The episode itself was great! I really enjoyed seeing Dominic Monaghan again. I was sad when they killed off his character, Charlie in Lost. I think Dominic did a great job playing a rock star! He was hilarious!

Business Cards

Yea! I finally got my business cards! I am so happy, my readership has gone up, because I am finally able to pass out my cards when I meet moms in the store, such as Target, who need tech help or game advice or etc!

I got my cards through Vista Print. I got 250 cards for just the price of shipping, which was under $10! Granted, I had to use their designs, but since I don’t have a logo yet anyway, it worked just fine! Make sure to check them out!

Don’t forget, if you are a fan of the NBC show Chuck, then don’t ditch the 3D glasses that you needed for the SuperBowl! You’ll need them for tomorrow night’s episode of Chuck! This is the first TV show to ever have an entire episode shot in 3D. The cast of Chuck talks about working in 3D.

We just watched the preview for Chuck’s 3D episode tomorrow night in 3D, and I am pretty excited! My husband is really excited about seeing Sarah in 3D. he, he, he, what a guy thing to say!
