Wallace and Gromit on the Wii???

I got this little tidbit of information in my email today. I love Wallace and Gromit and so does my four year old! I think it would be great!

New Wallace and Gromit game coming to a Wii near you?

If
it’s a) animated, b) funny, and c) needs a game made out it, Telltale
Games seem to be the go-to guys these days. First came their episodic
follow-ups to the classic Sam & Max adventure games, then a couple of games based on the Bone comics, and then an announcement for Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People based on the animated shorts.

But wait, there’s more! Telltale announced they’re doing British
humor by taking on Aardman Studio’s Wallace and Gromit. The claymation
duo are no stranger to games, but so far they’ve just been characters
in conventional platformers. Telltale seems like the right group to do
right by this cheese-loving inventor and his silently disapproving dog.
And, hopefully, any menacing penguins that may make an appearance.

Telltale’s FAQ
provides the basics for now, with an intriguing reference to being able
to discuss "platforms" in the future. Note the plural. Previously,
Telltale has made games exclusively for the PC. But Strong Bad
is their first game available for both the PC and Wii, downloadable
through Nintendo’s WiiWare distribution. Unless Telltale is simply
careless with their singular and plural nouns, it looks like Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Adventures may follow suit.

The coolest birth announcements I have ever seen!

Through the marvelous world of the internet, I was recently contacted by a really neat guy named Darren, who happens to be a really cool guy. Darren and his brother create the coolest birth announcements I have ever seen! They take four pictures that you have sent in and create this awesome video! They also creat great dvd covers to go with it! These make great gifts for family members and friends. Besides, don’t you want the coolest birth announcement ever? He was also nice enough to give my loyal readers a great coupon code towards their announcement purchase, so make sure to use it!

I had a chance to interview Darren and here are some of the great things that he had to say.

1. How did you get into creating these great birth announcements were you just messing around until you figured it out or did you have prior experience?
Well, my brother and I thought that creating birth announcements for families would be fun because it’s such a special time for the family and we wanted to be a part of that process.  I’ve taken several University extension courses on graphic design, and the software for that industry, not specifically to make birth announcements but just because they are fun courses.

2. What was the deciding factor in turning the idea of your son’s first year video into a business?

Well, when my son Ryan turned 1 year old, I spent 120 hours video editing 12 hours of family footage and lots if digital pictures into a 22 minute, 9 song video with LOTS of special effects. During the last 3 years, it has become so fun to watch over and over again that it just sounded like a good idea to escape all the plain and boring birth announcements and make one with a kick!

3. I notice that your family is really involved with this process (your brother works with you), how important is family to you?

Family is extremely important to me and I thank my blessings all the time how lucky I am to have a great wife and son, and amazing parents and very close brother. We barbeque often and get along very nicely.

4. Lastly, what inspires or challenges you on a daily basis (faith, family, important person, etc.)?

My wife REALLY inspires me. I’ve never met anyone who will do what ever it takes to care for and protect her family! Some of those important traits really don’t surface when you are dating or engaged, until you have a family and I sure did luck out!

Twilight

A friend of mine recently gave me a copy of the book Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. It’s funny because the story takes place in Forks, WA. I grew up on the Olympic Peninsula, so it’s crazy reading about places that I know.

This is a book that I started on Monday night and am almost done with! It’s pretty awesome, and very addicting! When I read it, I really feel like I am Bella and every interaction with Edward is intoxicating. Stephenie Meyer is amazing at making you feel like you are part of the story. My friend already gave me the next book, Full Moon to read as soon as I am finished with Twilight. I am really excited about the upcoming movie! I didn’t know about the movie until after I started reading the book, so I really hope that it stays true to the book. I hate it when movies really deviate from the book, such as Eragon. But so far, this movie looks good and Stephenie is really pleased as well, that’s always a good sign!

For you Harry Potter fans, you might recognize Edward as the one and only Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Looks like our Cedric’s death and "turned" him!

Here’s trailer to sink your teeth into:

Enjoy!

Busy Weekend!

We are headed off to go camping today (Thursday) and Friday, so that should be pretty fun! It will be Sophia’s first camping trip and first time sleeping in a tent. She was so excited that I could hardly get her to sleep last night, so instead of fighting, I let her stay up until 11pmish. I figured that maybe between less sleep and running around like crazy she’ll sleep good tonight in the tent. We are heading up to Gold Basin with our friends Shaina, Charles, Amy (Shaina’s sister) and her boyfriend, John (I think that’s his name). We should have a great time.

Saturday, we have to get up early, pack up and drive down to Port Orchard for the annual picnic. Brad’s family has family picnic (reunions) every year, but we haven’t been to one since Sophia was one. Needless to say, it’s time to go back. That should be fun too, hopefully, I won’t be to tired!

Sunday, sleep in just a little bit, go to church and possibly go to the church picnic. It totally depends on if we need more rest or not.

So that is my weekend and I think it should be pretty good!

Wireless HDTV!

I get emails from DVICE, which is the service that SciFi channel puts out telling you all the cool new stuff out there. I got this email, and the geek in me just drooled! Wireless HDTV! No more cables running around the back of my tv, I could connet my devices anywhere in the house!

Here’s the article:

DVICE - TECH IS OUR OBSESSION - POWERED BY SCI FI
SCI FI POWERED BY DVICE
WHDI
Imagine watching any HD video wirelessly from any Blu-ray player, PC, TiVo, video camera or Xbox, anywhere in your house, up to 100 feet away. Now add the ability to instantly control that video from wherever you’re watching it. That’s what WHDI (wireless high-definition interface) can do.

A group of the largest consumer-electronics companies have standardized this new way of moving wireless high-resolution uncompressed video, so all their products with the WHDI logo will be interoperable. They say we’ll start seeing WHDI gear by next year.

The idea is the brainchild of Amimon, an Israeli company that’s figured out how to move HD video around with no added noise, no annoying delay after you push the Play button, and, eventually, low cost. We’ve already seen a few WHDI products in action — including a TV from Sharp now shipping in Japan, a set-top pair from Belkin set for late 2008 release, and a wireless-HDTV unit from Sony — and we can tell you: It works perfectly. This is going to be big. Really big.

The funny things kids do

My daughter, Sophia, is an artist at heart. I will never forget when my husband and I got back into collecting comics, Sophia’s favorite character was The Incredible Hulk. We were heading out the door to a YMCA Teen Department Appreciation Dinner, when Sophia came out covered head to toe in green marker. (Thank God it was Crayola washable!) When we asked her why she did that, she said that she was Hulk. It was a laughable moment. After a quick baby wipe rub down of the obvious areas, hands, face and neck, we got in the car and headed out the door. During the dinner, Sophia was sitting on Benji Travis’s (Teen Coordinator) lap when she rolled up her sleeves, thus exposing green arms. After a quizical look from Benji, I just shrugged and replied "She’s The Hulk." He laughed.

One night, Sophia snuck a crayon into her room and proceeded to color a mural of a prince and princess. I was not pleased, as it was easier and less time consuming to repaint the wall than to Magic Eraser it. But, I took a picture, because despite the fact that I was not happy she did this, I could appreciate her creativity. You will see the picture below.

Yesterday, Sophia, who is getting quite sneaky, took one of my nail polishes into her room. This was a big no-no. Luckily, she only painted on her fingers and body. So, for half of the day, the house smelt of nail polish and nail polish remover. Ugh! At least it was just on herself and not on anything else.

So as you can see, I have a very creative child, who is also a little bit of a pill. After a minute for my frustration to subside, I can appreciate her for who she is, my little artist. I just wish she would stick to paper, versus mixed media!

Cleaning up

I am trying to teach my 3 year old the importance of cleaning up. I am currently about to beat my head against a wall. It was easy when she was younger. Her clothes were in the right drawers, neatly folded, her toys were put away and it looked nice.

Fast forward to age three. I am lucky if I can get her to put her clothes in the drawer and have since given up on getting them in the correct drawers. I even put stickers showing what clothes went where, those were soon destroyed. I am now learning that this is much like training a dog. (not that I equate my child to a dog, but you get my meaning) A great piano player wouldn’t immediately start playing Chopin, they have to practice at it. So, in the great society built around immediacy, I am learning to slow down and work on the little things with her. Even if it tries my patience.

I do wish that I had a better way to organize her toys, but maybe on payday I’ll get a great toy organizer. One step at a time.

Cell phones

Okay, I am a little bit behind on the times when it comes to the new and latest cell phones. Probably due to things like, mortgages, car payments and etc. But, I just upgraded to the LG Chocolate in Ice Blue. Now, I upgraded online, so I should be receiving it tomorrow or the next day. So soon as I receive it and play around with it, I’ll let you know what I think. If you have Verizon Wireless and are due for a cell phone upgrade, they are now free with 2 year activation.

This cell phone has VCast music capabilities, VZNavigator and Bluetooth. Bluetooth is especially important because as of July 1st, it is now illegal in the State of Washington to talk on a cell phone while driving if you do not have a hands-free headset.

So as soon as I get the new phone, I’ll fill you in!

Rent designer purses!

I was reading Elle magazine today and I noticed a really cool website adverstisement! The website is bagborroworsteal.com You can rent designer purses by the week or month. A one month membership is $9.99 and the rental price for the purse or jewelry is dependent on the designer and actual cost of the jewelry.

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy 30 Handbag rental is $125.00 a month. I think this is much better than the steep price of $685.00 for handbag on the Louis Vuitton website. BagBorroworSteal also offers the "Steal" option. This option allows you to post that you are interested in purchasing the bag that you have rented and they will give the purchase information to buy from them.

I think that this website is innovative and I can’t wait to try it!

It’s a down day

I’m not sure what is gong on, but I have lots of energy on Monday and no energy on Tuesday, fine again on Wednesday and crappy on Thursday. I will be seeing the doctor for this as it is not acceptable in my book.

It’s frustrating because as soon as I get things caught up, I have a down day and it throws me out of whack again. I feel like I am constantly behind and it drives me nuts! I have been praying for strength to get through each day, but it seems harder and harder. Ugh!
